Verdun Auditorium

The Denis-Savard arena and auditorium complex needed to be modernized. The intervention created a dialogue between the ancient and the modern. The light curtain walls bring a lot of light to the reception areas.

The project got the LEED GOLD certification. Among the various strategies employed : the reduction of water consumption in the operation of the arena, the efficiency of the mechanics and the construction of a high-performance envelope for the arena.

Awarded project - Prix d’excellence en architecture de l’OAQ en 2021 – Mise en valeur du patrimoine. The jury praised the architects' effort to preserve and enhance the existing Art Deco style arena, inaugurated in 1939. While the initial order called for the demolition of the building, the design team convinced the client of its heritage value and the interest of rehabilitating it.
